National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week is commemorated annually by Presidential proclamation and on September 13-14, 2007, MED Week achieved its 25th Anniversary milestone. The National MED Week Conference is hosted by the United States Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) in collaboration with the U.S. Small Business Administration and public and private sector partners. The conference promotes and celebrates the vital role minority businesses play in creating jobs and strengthening our nation’s economy. It also serves as a forum to discuss the issues, trends and strategies affecting minority-owned business enterprises.

Established in 1969 by Executive Order, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), U.S. Department of Commerce, is the only federal agency created specifically to foster the establishment and grow minority-owned businesses in America. MBDA is an entrepreneurially focused and innovative organization committed to wealth creation in minority communities. The Agency actively promotes the growth and competitiveness minority business enterprises (MBEs) by offering management and technical assistance through a network of more than forty local business centers throughout the United States.
